What started as an idea became a global community

WeWork was founded in 2010, with the vision to build inspiring spaces where people and companies come together, get inspired, and do their best work. Since opening our first location in New York City, we’ve grown into a global network of workspaces grounded in flexibility and community. Today, we’re constantly reimagining how space, technology, and community can help everyone—from freelancers to Fortune 500s—get more out of their workday.

"World, meet WeWork"

The first WeWork location opened in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City with just 3,000 square feet.

2014
Leveling up

We reached over 1.5 million square feet of space and 10,000 members.

2015
Recognition for our innovation

Our locations doubled and WeWork was named among the "most innovative companies" by Fast Company magazine.

2016
Celebrating a hundred locations

Our 100th location globally opened in Berlin.

2019
Going truly global

We celebrated opening a location in our 100th city around the globe.

2020
New offerings

We rolled out our WeWork All Access and WeWork On Demand product offerings enabling greater flexibility for our members to leverage our global scale of products.

2021
Championing safety and flexibility

We partnered with major cities across the U.S. to help foster post-pandemic infrastructure recovery and safety-focused return to work.
